Our Recent Work

Here is a glimpse at some of our recent work:
  • Prepared Building Skills Partnership staff and worker leaders to train Silicon Valley janitors on preventing ergonomic injuries

  • Presented at the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) annual conference — about our work to address gender-based violence in the janitorial industry, together with Ya Basta Coalition allies

  • Joined in the San Jose Mexican Consulate ” Labor Rights Week to help workers learn about their rights and resources to make all workplaces healthy, safe, and respectful of workers’ dignity

  • Presented at the Western States Occupational Network (WestON) Conference—describing how work greatly influences health and contributes to health disparities

  • Mentored students who were interns in this summer’s Occupational Health Internship Program, working with:
    • The Cypress Mandela Training Center (CMTC), on an evaluation of their pre-apprenticeship training program in East Oakland
    • The UC Berkeley Ergonomics Lab, looking at how a device construction would wear could be used to evaluate their movements and predict risk of lower back injuries
